TYPES OF TARPS:

Standard Canvas tarps:

Standard tarps are constructed of 8 oz or 10 oz mildew and rot resistant canvas with double-stitched seams. Rust resistant grommets are spaced on approximately 3’ centers in hem and on each corner. Standard sizes range from 5’x7’ through 20’x20’

SFD Tarp Construction

These tarpaulins are ruggedly constructed of genuine canvas, which is water and mildew resistant. All seams are triple sewed and hems are double sewed with rot resistant thread. They are designed with double grommets at each corner for maximum restraint. Rust resistant grommets, placed on a reinforced patch to resist tearing, are spaced on approximately 3’ centers and anchored against a reinforcing rope bound in hem. Standard sizes range from 5’x7’ through 20’x30’. Look for SFD in product description.

Poly Tarps

Our poly tarps are woven and coated polyethylene, with all four hems heat sealed and reinforced with rope in hem and rust proof grommets every three feet and in all corners. From the Blue, lighter duty poly tarp to the heavier Silver poly tarp, this is a good all purpose economical choice.

Vinyl Tarps

Vinyl tarps are water, mildew, and rot resistant and will not shrink. These tarps are constructed of a tightly woven scrim laminated on both sides with vinyl. Many color choices available. Heavier vinyl fabrics and coated vinyl aviailable on Custom Tarp Builder. Most of our vinyls are fire retardant, although not all. Available in 10 oz to 22 oz fabric.

TARP DEFINITIONS:

Fire retardant: Fire retardant refers to a material or product that is resistant to fire. It is not considered to be fire proof, but self extinguishing.

Laminated Vinyl: Tightly woven scrim is laminated on both sides with vinyl. Most (not all) laminated vinyls are fire retardant. Extremely strong and durable. High tensile and tear strength. Applications of this fabric would be gym mats, wall pads, protective pads, athletic field covers, gym divider curtains, and general purpose tarps and covers.

Coated Vinyl: Vinyl coated polyester. Applications of this fabric would be truck covers, heavy equipment covers, exterior curtains, etc. High tear, puncture, and water resistance.

SFD: Type of Canvas tarp construction with triple sewn seams, double sewn hems, rope in hem for reinforcement. Look for SFD in product description for tarps with this construction.

Fabric Weights: 8, 10, 12, or 18 oz refers to the weight of the material. In canvas, the fabric weight (for example 10 oz) would mean the per yard weight before the treatment is added. Total weight of the finished product depends on size. Basically, the higher the weight numbers the stronger the material.
